Hello from Singapore

Oh goss!! I have so many things to share since I arrived here on 17 December 2007 but no internet excess till now...

My "new" house
Darling brought me home straight from the station. He asked me not to expect too much but reassured me that our room is cleaned. Seriously, although I have prepared for the worst, I still got a shock as the living room is quite messy & the kitchenis dirty (according to my standard). As promised, our room & ensuite bathroom are much better as hubby cleaned it very often. Our room facing the mrt track, so very noisy, 6am-1230am daily -- I have used to it now. We are in the 13th floor, very windy, so very dusty -- I clean everyday. I seldom leave my room; I never sit in the living room or dinning area & I never cook, I only boil water. I'll try my best not to have any physical contact with anything beyond my room.
**This is my weakness, I'm a clean person.

My housemate
Hubby & I in the master bedroom.
Sister-in-law (Ee Mei) took one of the common room. She use our toilet cause the one outside is dirty.
Her gay friend (Jay) from China in another common room. He is a nice guy.
The tiny room took by a dirty China man who work as a DJ. Never talk to us, quarrelled a few times with Ee Mei.

My Christmas
I went to Ee Mei's cell group party. I enjoyed the food, love the people around & it was fun!! Morris & Cecily shared the pictures & story about their recent missionary trip to Chiangmai, I then realised there are lots we can do/contribute to the weak/poor one.
The next day, we went to the Paya Lebar Methodist Church; a pretty & huge church. This was my first church service for more than 10 years. During my primary school, I used to attend church service with my much older cousin brother (a pastor) & family. Everyone is so friendly, I enjoyed the singing session the most. I attended 2 church wedding this year, I cried on both sessions. I also cried during the Christmas church service. I have no idea what's going on, my tears just flow down uncontrolly. I shared this with hubby & Michelle. Both of them said that God touched my heart. Till now, I'm not sure what happen & what to do, I guess time will be the answer.

My Presents
Darling bought me a pink Sony Ericson w850i, limited edition.
Winnie the Pooh mug & coins purse from the Christmas party.
NUS gave me a brand new Acer laptop with build in camera & 1G thumbdrive.
*will blog about my new phone & laptop later

My Work
I started work yesterday, attended the induction course. Now, I know much more about the school & feel glad & lucky to be here. I can't wait to meet the students in 2nd January 2008. I know I will learn a lot from both the experience teachers & smart students here. Currently, nothing much to do, only preparing teaching materials. Will share more about the school & my work once I started teaching.

My Workout
I went to the gym last Thursday (Hari Raya Haji), I didn't do much (only cycle & stepper) as I was having a terrible headache.
**Of course, the main reason is I'm lazy.
On Christmas eve, I swam for about 15minutes. Since I really move my body this time, I felt the pain on the next day.
On Christmas, I joined hubby & Ee Mei for tennis. Brother Thong (70+ years old former national player) gave us free coaching, he said I've the potential. Till now, my body is still aching, especially my right arm. Darling said I should continue with the workout in order for the pain to go, so we will go to the gym tonight after work.

Finally...

I cried! I cried!
First time in my life, I shed tears in front of my students!!
So, so, so... embarassing

Last Friday, TD8 celebrated my farewell & belated birthday.

I like what they wrote on the cake: "Happy Birthday SPHERICAL BEAUTY (means pretty no matter which angle you view from) , from KONGKONGPHILE (means those who love Kong; in Latin, 'phile' means love)
Is also Ms MCC's (Mong Cha Cha) birthdayThey got me a HUGE card with lots of kisses inside
Students singing farewell song while presenting the slides they prepared specially for me. That's when I...
I try my very best to hold my tears, but I burst at last.
The cheeky monkey who self-claimed to be the most handsome guy in class. Can't believe that he is so brave to have physical contact with me!!

My Dear Students

Last Wednesday (my birthday), TD9 - TD12 bought me a cake & a bracelet (with receipt). I was kind of shock as lots of students came out from different corridor towards the chemistry lab, together with the happy birthday song. I don't have any of the picture as I'm not prepared for it at all.I told the boys in my lecture that carcoal & diamond are both carbon. So, in order to make their girlfriend/wife happy but not to 'hurt' their wallet too much just get her a piece of carcoal & tell her "my love to you will last forever, till this piece of charcoal become diamond" I always reminded the girls in the class to be smart, ask for a receipt if their boyfriends/husband buy them any jewelries. This is because gold/diamond is not worth anything without the proof of purchase.

I taught them lecture since semester 1, there is definitely a special bond between us. Especially TD10, I taught them lecture, tutorial & practical in semester 1. This semester I also incharge of TD11 & TD12 practical sessions. I spent so much time with this lecture group, I might not know all their names but the connection is there!!
TD9 - TD12, I'll surely miss you dearly
I bought them lots of junk food & they love it!!

Last Saturday was my last lecture with them, I gave my very best to them even I was very ill. They are very coorperative, they remain silent as I have very little voice left. They behave like an angel as they worry I'll faint. As a return, I treated them packet drinks:)

My Car!!

Can't believe what my fellow colleagues cum friends did to my poor Myvi on my birthday!!!I arrived preparation lab at 11am to attend chemistry meeting held by Audrey. In the middle of the meeting, MC ran into the preparation lab looked rather excited & worried. He told me someone blocked his car and he need to rush back to the office to grabbed some stuffs before his class. Without any doubt, I past him my car keys.
During that half an hour, MC, LeeSa & Sean showed their "talent" in drawing & painting. They also decorated her with lots of balloons. Many students & staffs gathered around my car to take pictures & give "comments". I wonder how Tan Sri & Tun Ling will react if they saw my car & the crowds. The worst part was they parked my car underneath the "spotlight" where everyone will surely pass by!!! I guess all the students & staffs in UTAR know that I'm leaving & would like to wish me Happy Birthday.

Never in my mind they i.e. MC, Sean & LeeSa will do this to my car!! Of course, Audrey hold the major role in organising the meeting. I believe Phaveena will join them if she don't have to attend training, right?

Anywhere, Thanks a lot for the surprise:)
**luckily the sun burst most of the balloons & the rain clear most of the paint after work, if not the police will surely "saman" me

Well appreciated

Yesterday after my replacement test, I saw a box on my desk. I knew it is from Mr Yaw because he called me the night before to inform me about this. It is a cute little cake;) I shared the coffee cake with LeeSa, Looi & ZheZhe.

Then, SianLerk arrived from Klang with the famous Bak Kut Teh. It is delicious but a bit too costly... *sorry no picture, all gone into our stomach, yum! yum!

Yesterday was my last lecture with TD1-4, I bought them lots of junk food as my farewell gifts to them. I think they love it!!

I finished the class few minutes before 5pm but the students refused to leave my class. I’m kind of surprise because they are having 2 tests today & normally they will rushed out the class as soon as possible to beat the jam. Then, Xiao Yi & Fui Peng brought in 2 Secret Recipe bags, the whole class started to make lots of noise. They bought me 3 cakes (chocolate , which mean I have cut 6 cakes before my real birthday!!
Chocolate Mud Cake
Chocolate Indulgence
Chocolate Fudge
Don't know which cake to cut first

The cheeky students sang me the animal version of birthday song & gave me a 100% hand-made autograph by Xiao Yi with messages from everyone in TD1-4. My tears nearly fell when I glance through the messages, I didn’t expected all these from them.
A very HAPPY Ms Kong
Full of love....

We took lots of pictures & those rascals (especially uncle Lim & Peter @ Alvin Chai) busy showing their “naughty talent”….
Although it was a short one but I do enjoyed it. Thanks guys, I’ll surely remember you all.

Another Rewarding Day

Yesterday, TE5 gave me a surprise birthday cum farewell party.

According to the timetable, our class is scheduled at 11am-12pm but we didn't finish last week tutorial so I arranged for an extra tutorial class. Initially, I planned to have it an hour before the original slot, but TE5 requested to have it at 9am with the reason they are very free in the morning, wish to finish class early so can have early lunch.

At about 9.45am, Pei Kee & Lee Poh claimed that their car blocking someone (very common to double parked in UTAR) & need to leave the class to shift their car. A few minutes later, Jireh sneaked out from the class & I thought he wanted a toilet break. Silly me!!

At 10am, we changed to the other classroom cause other class is coming in. The room was dark & once I opened the door, Jireh, Pei Kee & Lee Poh were in the room with a Secret Recipe cheesecake, then the whole class started to sing me Happy Birthday song. So touching...

I made a wish & blew the candles. They invited Mr. Ong as well, he took lots of pictures for us. The students also bought me a doggie pillow which I promised to bring to Singapore.

Ong then tied himself with a red ribbon & the students present him to me...hahaha!!

The students dared me to drag Ong to other classes to show off my present. With lots of worries & rapid heartbeat I entered Mr Yeo's tutorial with TE4 students & Ms Khoo's lecture with TD1-4 students. Definitely a weird & funny experience!! Hopefully students won't post my stupid act into YouTube.

I had a bet withTE5 earlier, if all of them get good result (at least 7 out of 10 marks) in test 1, I will buy them drinks. Although they lost, I knew they have done their best, I bought all of them a can of Fruit Tree blackcurrent with aloe vera.

At noon, I had my last practical class with TD14. A few of them late for class cause they went to McDonalds' to buy me lunch (Coke, Fries, Fillet-o-Fish, McChicken Deluxe). Of course, I didn't punish them for being late cause they have valid reason!!

There are lots of naughty boys in this class which actually make this class intersting. Although I always scold them but I do love them very much.
My angels in TD14
During my pactical session, my ex-students, Kelvin & Foong Kheng paid me a visit.
They brought along birthday present & card, also half a dozen of delicious Big Apply doughnuts

Fai Lin, Yi Wen & Yee Ping from TD13 gave me birthday & thank you cards, and a ginger breadman.
